Empresa Nacional del Petróleo engages in the exploration, development, production, and marketing of hydrocarbons and geothermal resources in Chile and internationally. The company also refines, produces, stores, transports, and markets fuels, including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, kerosene, and liquid gas, as well as other products derived from crude oil, such as solvents, and bases for the production of asphalt, ethylene, and other petro-chemical products. In addition, it is involved in the wholesale distribution business in Peru. Empresa Nacional del Petróleo was founded in 1950 and is based in Santiago, Chile.
